Norman Powell is a project manager at Insigneo, and is currently supporting:
- VPH-Share: an European Union funded, integrated project with 19 international partners, which has delivered an in silico medicine research infrastructure providing access to cloud and High Performance Computing and data storage to support collaborative research projects.
- VPH-CaSE: a Marie Curie International Training Network with nine beneficiaries and 12 partners, providing early stage researcher training in the area of cardiovascular simulation and experiment for personalised medical devices.
- MultiSim: A modelling framework focused on the human musculoskeletal system but designed as a generic platform to address other engineering challenges that involve multi-scale modelling, unobservable states and variables, and uncertainty.
Norman trained as a physicist, with a PhD in the modelling of liquid crystal devices using the finite element method. He has quantitative, scientific and qualitative, humanities research experience in the fields of textiles, computer science education, and enquiry and problem based learning. The latter he used to develop project management and team working skills in the undergraduate curriculum, as well as developing his own skills and interest in project management.
