Damien Lacroix, Professor of Mechanobiology in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Director of MultiSim. His main expertise is on computational modelling of mechanobiological processes at the cell, tissue and organ interfaces and their interactions with biomedical devices. He coordinates the only worldwide multi-scale patient-specific biomechanical and mechanobiology project focused on the lumbar spine (MySpine). He is also the recipient of a European Research Council (ERC) Starting grant on multi-scale computer simulations in bone tissue engineering.
He has received around €3M in the last 10 years in European funding. As past-president of the European Society of Biomechanics (2010-1012), Professor Lacroix is a leading figure in biomechanics. He will lead the scientific activities to ensure overall objectives are achieved.
Professor Lacroix is also the Work Package leader for Work Package 4. Tissue Modelling and a member of Work Package 3. Organ Model, Work Package 5. Cell Model, Work Package 6. Non-Linear Complex Systems, Work Package7. Animal Study, Work Package 8. Clinical Study and Work Package 9. Hypermodelling Integration and Framework Development.
