Visakan Kadirkamanathan is a Professor of Signal and Information Processing in the Department of Automatic control and Systems Engineering. His research interest is statistical signal processing for the estimation of spatio-temporal and nonlinear models that can deal with uncertainties and imperfect data. He has applied them to problems in systems and synthetic biology, neuroscience and to social sciences. Professor Kadirkamanathan is co-investigator in the EPSRC Platform Grant on Complex Systems and has generated £3M of funding over the last 10 years.
He is the Co-Editor of the International Journal of Systems Science. Professor Kadirkamanathan leads the University of Sheffield Engineering for Life initiative, specifically developing and implementing the University’s strategy in this area.
Professor Kadirkamanathan is the co- leader of Work Package 6. Non-Linear Complex System.
